Research Policy

AAIPSDS research policy is closely linked to the aims and objectives for its establishment. It is pertinent to note that research for finding Afro-centric solutions to the problems of peace, security, economic and sustainable development are grossly inadequate. The need to develop “African solutions to Africa’s problems” is a paradigm shift from methodologies that have been earlier employed to address issues of critical concern to sustainable development and human security in Africa.
This calls for the need to engage on in-depth studies and research in peace, security and sustainable development in order to have desirable impact on African societies, particularly in preventing armed and deadly conflicts. Furthermore, it is essential to create an enabling environment and action oriented frameworks for economic, social and political development of African countries.
AAIPSDS in line with its philosophy will link research with policy and practice. AAIPSDS will encourage multidisciplinary approach on its thematic areas of research. AAIPSDS is willing to network and cooperate with other research institutes interested in its policy direction. Consequently, the frameworks of AAIPSDS research programme include project leaders and team members who will be responsible for underlying studies in the specified areas.
